National Indigenous People's Day Celebration

Join us for a meaningful and fun-filled day as we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with culture, connection, and community!

Experience Indigenous traditions through dance, workshops, food, and storytelling. All are welcome to attend this free event, designed for all ages.

Event Schedule:
10:00 AM – Opening Ceremony
Begin the day with a warm welcome and land acknowledgment, Traditional Gift to an Elder, and Smudging Ceremony

10:30 AM – Hoop Dance Performance
Witness the incredible artistry of Lawrence A. Roy Jr. as he shares the beauty and tradition of hoop dancing.

12:00 PM – Lunch + Family Games & Activities
Participate in fun, family-friendly games and cultural activities. Grab a Bannock Taco/Hotdog/hamburger from our Food Truck vendor!
Lawrence A. Roy Jr. will also be available throughout the day offering hoop dancing lessons for those who want to learn! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to try the dance for yourself and learn from a skilled artist and cultural educator.

1:30 PM – Medicine Workshop with Nathan Scott
Learn about traditional medicine practices and teachings in this interactive workshop.

5:00 PM – Film Screening
Wrap up the day with a thoughtful Indigenous film screening in the VIC basement.

Everyone is welcome!
Bring your friends, family, and curiosity as we honor Indigenous culture and heritage together.
Free entry. All ages. Respectful participation encouraged.
